EDT visited the Department of Physics at the University of York to deliver a regional skills training workshop for Year in Industry applicants.  EDT place students with over 300 UK companies every year including Shell, Rolls Royce and Network Rail.

A member of Rolls Royce’s recruitment team gave a webinar outlining the large number of graduate and placement opportunities available to physics students. These related to engineering, manufacturing engineering, project management and health, safety & environment.  The presentation concluded with application tips; how to stand out in the application process and a Q &A session.

Network Rail visited the Department of Physics to promote their placement and graduate opportunities. A wide range of roles were relevant to physics students. This included business technology, project management and supply chain opportunities.

Thales outlined numerous internship, year in industry and graduate opportunities for physicists. These opportunities related to all areas of their business including space, ground transportation, defence and security.  The presentation concluded with an application hints and tips section followed by Q &A.

Visit to the Department of Physics by Prof. David Rugg, Rolls Royce PLC

David RuggProf. David Rugg visited the Department of Physics to talk to under-graduate and post-graduate students about careers at Rolls Royce PLC.

He discussed the fundamental importance of physics and physicists to Rolls Royce’s research, development and innovation and also outlined the different career routes to working at Rolls Royce.
