9th Annual Physics Industry Recruitment and Placement Fair
The 9th Annual Physics Industry Recruitment and Placement Fair was held in the Exhibition Centre at the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology at the University of York on Wednesday 19th October. It was a fantastic day and the event itself was the busiest we have ever seen! We were pleased to welcome over 1000 physics students and 41 employers. Great to see industry back on the curriculum!
The FREE event involved:
- Networking between industry leaders and students within the exhibition area
- Employer talks and presentations
- Q&A sector panel discussions
STUDENTS
Students seemed to really enjoy the fair with positive feedback received in our post-event survey. They agreed that the fair helped them to understand how their skills could be used in technical sectors and that they had an increased awareness of the types of roles available to them.
Feedback included: ‘I learned things I didn’t know I could do with my physics degree’ and that ‘The WRIPA Fair enlightened me to the options a Physics student has no only after their degree, but also during their degree.’
Students used the Career Fair Plus (CF+) to navigate around the fair, view the employers attending the event, drop their CV at stands, access the interactive fair map and see details about the employer talks and Q&A panel discussions taking place.
EMPLOYERS
Feedback from the employers who attended the event was very positive, with all the employers that attended indicating that the event met their student engagement needs.
Comments included: ‘Great event. Refreshing to chat to so many switched on, aspirational young people!’ and that ‘This event has been a fantastic opportunity for us to meet with lots of future talent for our business from a number of universities.’
